On this the feast of the Guardian Angels, I really felt it placed on my heart that I should turn to you for help.
I hope you can take just a couple of minutes to listen to the audio above.
With the addition of our new apps for Iphone, Ipad and Android devices our work has expanded greatly.
Did you know that in the September 2012, we experienced  over 100, 000+ audio downloads….that is nearly double the amount experienced just 2 months ago.  Just yesterday, Oct. 1 we had 4, 500 downloads, so I think we are on our way of passing those September numbers as well. And those figures do not include the video hits, or page views which exceed 2,500 a day.  But it’s not really about numbers, it’s about hearts…hearts seeking answers and peace…hearts seeking ultimately  The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.  God is so very good!
This brings about new challenges, and honestly, expenses.
First, I ask that you please pray for the work of “Discerning Hearts”…this is the most important thing.  But then I would also ask those who have been blessed to please consider helping us with a donation which will help cover the payment for more bandwidth, additional website and application expenses.  That alone costs hundreds of dollars each month.  And then there is the expense for the production work that comes with each series, program….well you get the picture, I am sure.  The Lord is really placing on my heart to invite others to help…as He said to St. Paul in the Acts of the Apostles  “Be not afraid, I have many friends in this city.” (Acts 18:9)  So, friends, I invite those of you who can, to please consider helping the work done here by all of us on Discerning Hearts.
Discerning Hearts is a 501 c 3 non-profit public charity with ALL donations FULLY tax-deductible in the U.S. Â We receive no funding from any Catholic Radio Station or Catholic Diocese. Â We are truly 100% donor supported. Please check out the DONATE page. Â It’s safe and secure and you will be helping us to continue the work that God has called us to.
Thanks for your time and prayerful consideration.
May our patrons, St. Padre Pio, Blessed Mother Teresa, and Blessed John Paul II, pray for us.
May the Immaculate Heart of our Blessed Mother, pray for us.
And may the Sacred Heart of Jesus, have mercy on us all.
Amen.

For the text of the Chaplet of St. Michael
How can you not just love the holy angels of God, and in particular the Archangels:Â Michael, Gabriel, and Raphael?
(I’ll answer that: You just have to  love them…they’re too AWESOME!)

Prayer to St. Michael
St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle, be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May GOD rebuke him we humbly pray, and do thou o’ prince of the Heavenly Host, by the power of GOD cast into hell satan and all the evil spirits who prowl throughout the world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen.

Prayer to the Archangel St. Gabriel
O God, who from among all your angels chose the Archangel Gabriel to announce the mystery of the Incarnation, mercifully grant that we who solemnly remember him on earth may feel the benefit of his patronage in heaven, with Jesus who lives and reigns for ever and ever. Amen.

Prayer to the Archangel Raphael
Glorious Archangel St. Raphael, great prince of the heavenly court, your are illustrious for your gifts of wisdom and grace. You are a guide of those who journey by land or sea or air, consoler of the afflicted, and refuge of sinners. I beg you, assist me in all my needs and in all the sufferings of this life, as once you helped the young Tobias on his travels. Because you are the “medicine of God”, I humbly pray you to heal the many infirmities of my soul and the ills that afflict my body. I especially ask of you the favor
(name it) and the great grace of purity to prepare me to be the temple of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

St. Bridget of Sweden…I never knew the power of the revelations to St. Bridget of Sweden until my friend Denise “reintroduced” them to me.  I say “reintroduced”, because I had bought the Pieta Prayer booklet (where they can be found) back in 1987. I offered them, really, only for a short while before packing the book away. But years later, after seeing how the revelations touched the heart of my
dear friend, I dug the booklet out and started praying them again (as faithfully as I could). They are very powerful and beautiful. Meditating on the Passion of our Lord with the intensity called for in this particular devotion will change your life…are you ready?  How many of you out there have the Pieta prayer book and know the stories of St. Bridget of Sweden?
(oh, be sure not to confuse her with St. Brigid of Kildare…it happens all the time)
Here  is the audio mp3 download of the 15 Prayers of St. Bridget as offered by Bruce McGregor and Denise Wharton

You can find the text for the prayers hereÂ
Here is the chapel in St. Paul’s Outside the Walls in Rome where St. Bridget received the private revelation of the 15 prayers…….
Of course, St. Bridget is more than just her prayers…ordinary woman, extraordinary life!. To learn more about St. Bridget of Sweden, take a look at this:

Sign of the Cross
Act of Contrition
Nineth day:
Bible reading:
« 14 All of these together gave themselves to constant prayer. With them were some women and also Mary, the mother of Jesus, and his brothers…» and »when the day of Pentecost arrived, all were filled with the Holy Spirit.» (Acts 1:14 and 2:1-4)
Brief Reflection:
Our Father sends the Holy Spirit on the feast of Pentecost , that will feed us in our faith. This is the same faith that with Mary’s maternal help, will remove the bonds that keep us prisoners. With the light of the Holy Spirit we see in meridian clarity which of our anguishes had our spirit trapped. The guidance of Saint Michael the Archangel has always been certain, Saint Gabriel the Archangel will announce my freedom and Saint Michael the Archangel, will protect me from any attack. The Evil one (the serpent), overpowered by the presence of Mary, lies at her feet, made into a useless knot, unable to touch us.
( Brief meditation: meditate with one decade of the Holy Rosary: One Our Father, 10 Hail Mary’s, One Glory be and the Prayer to “The Virgin Mary untier of Knotsâ€)

Episode 5 – Saints in Heaven – The Stones Cry Out
Roots of the Faith – From the Church Fathers to You with Mike Aquilina, makes clear that just as an acorn grows into a tree and yet remains the same plant, so the Catholic Church is a living organism that has grown from the faith of the earliest Christians into the body of Christ we know today. Hosted by Kris McGregor

It’s always great fun to talk with Dr. Benjamin Wiker. Intelligent and disarming, Dr. Wiker has a way of helping us see past the sound bite of the day to the heart of the matter…to the heart of the Church…to the heart of Truth.
Do you think you know what it means to be a “conservative”? Do you really? Read this first, and then let’s talk….
